  • Customized encounter forms
  • Health summaries
  • Patient education materials
  • Claims forms
  • Outguides
  • Management reports
  • Order entry forms

Business Challenge

Indian Health Service needed a solution to improve the quality of health care as well as data and billing integrity through combining the best features of the PCC encounter form, superbill and health summary in one integrated document.Informatix Laboratories identified the following conditions that could benefit from this solution:

  • Large percentage of third-party billing
  • No existing Superbill
  • Data entry backlog
  • Need for improved clinical results for GPRA and other indicators

How ZuniSoft Helped

ZuniSoft developed the core services of PCC+ providing Informatix Laboratories with a platform for their integrated forms solution. ZuniSoft designed and implemented a Windows NT service to enhance the printing of documents created in a UNIX environment. The service accepted requests from the UNIX system using sockets. The service accepts the request, along with the data to be printed, creating a MS Word mail merge document which is sent to the requested printer.

Value Delivered

The business case for PCC+ was to improve quality of care and improve billing integrity. The PCC+ project was a big success. The PCC+ team achieved the following benefits:

  • Customized forms based on the individual characteristics of clinics, users and patients
  • Enhanced the provider’s ability to see the whole patient
  • Avoided the cost of commercial printing and maintaining an inventory of forms
  • Increased data entry quality and productivity
  • Improved coding and problem documentation
  • Delivery of a modern clinical application that fully integrated with the legacy PCC application, preserving investments in that system
